Question: Will my eyelashes grow back after damaging them with waterproof mascara?
(Posted by: Nina on 2009-12-25 13:01:14)
So here's my problem. I have been using waterproof mascara for almost a year now, and i noticed that my eyelashes began to get harder and smaller, sometimes they fall out and it's difficult to remove mascara with make up remover, even. When i wasn't using it at all people used to ask me if i had mascara or not because i had beautiful feather like eyelashes, i want them back... So i was wondering whether they can grow back after me damaging them.I know some oils might help but i didn't find them of much use, i wish to grow my eyelashes naturally. Can i do that?. |

Yes, your eyelashes can grow back just like the hair on your head. You just have to be patient and eat a healthy diet so it can grow. Hair is made out of Keratin, which is a type of protein, so maybe it would help you to eat a balanced diet which includes good sources of protein. As for your eyelashes falling out, maybe it's because you're having trouble removing the waterproof mascara. You need to try to be gentle when you remove it. Get a good waterproof makeup remover. When you put the cotton ball/ towelette with the makeup remover over youre eyelashes, don't start wiping off the mascara right away. Hold the cotton ball over it for for a few seconds to allow the mascara to start dissolving first, then gently wipe it off. By doing that, it's much easier to remove than if you were to just start wiping it right away. Also, do you curl your eyelashes? If you do, it's better to curl them before you apply mascara to prevent your eyelashes from sticking to the eyelash curler. If it sticks to the curler, it can pull your eyelashes out. |

They will grow back eventually, probably very slowly and they may not be as thick either. I know that from experience. In the meantime when you remove makeup, use jojoba oil on your eyes, gently massage it in, then use a warm flannel rinsed in warm water, hold it against your eyes and then wipe away to remove the eye makeup. Just don't be too harsh with your lashes. Try to give mascara a break as it can dry out lashes, then breaks them up. |

Get nutrogena HEALTHY VOLUME! It is better for your lashes. But, don't use makeup remover. Just let it come off as you shower because you are probley pulling lashes out when you use the makeup remover. Let your lashes become healthy-that means no mascara When they are at least a bit normal again try the healthy volume mascara. |

The lifespan of an eyelash is 90 days. If you wait 180 days they will be thicker and heLthier if you stop using any mascara, and no curling you lashes. They will grow back but might not be as thick:( hope this hepled |

Yes they will, like the first answer said, probably not as thick, but they will still be long. A nice trick you can try is at night time, but a little petroluem jelly (vaseline stuff) on the lashline of your eyes with a Q-tip. The vaseline conditions your lashes and makes them thicker, and they provide a good protection against other times when you use mascara and stops them from falling out as much. I would suggest not wearing mascara for a while and just using the vaseline trick. You can also try putting an old mascara wand (washed thouroughly) and cover it with a bit of vaseline, just a bit, and use it as a clear mascara. Don't use too much and stop using it if you feel it is not working or it irritates your eyes and skin. This is a trick I really like and I think you should try it, but if it doesn't work for you then stop. Hope this was helpful :) |
